Franchising is one of the most successful business models in the world, aiding business growth, enhancing the transfer of skills and improving income and living standards. This business model has great market potential in Nigeria and, in May 2017, Policy Development Facility Phase II and Franchise Business Development Services brought together key stakeholders to explore the untapped potential of franchising in Nigeria, examine the challenges and offer solutions to tackle them. This event report summarises the issues discussed at the workshop, including access to finance, the role of the Nigerian government in encouraging investment into the franchise industry and the legislative and regulatory framework guiding the industry in Nigeria.
